Under-9

 Youghal V

Carrigtwohill

On Saturday evening, Carrigtwohill Under-9’s took to the road for an away trip to Youghal for their latest league fixture. Storm ‘Hannah’ had past overnight but it would be Carrigtwohill’s own ‘Anna’ that would cause havoc in the seaside town!

Twin games of 7v7 were played and this would be a taste of the format which we will play next season at Under-10 and it must be said it suited Carrigtwohill’s passing game as the boys and girls did their best to exploit the space. The understanding of roles and positions was very impressive from the away side and all players looked comfortable wherever they played.

Some fantastic football was accompanied by solid defending and excellent distribution from the goalkeepers. As usual great team goals and spectacular solo efforts entertained the crowd but the highlight for us coaches is the enjoyment the kids get from playing and the tremendous team spirit there is with this bunch, well done to all involved.

Special mention goes to Anna Madden for her superb display, Roger O’Connor for his hat trick, to Luke Brennan for his tireless midfield play and Nathan White for his excellent headed goal (not often seen at this age)! ?⚽⚽⚽
