John Cooke Cup v Richmond in Killeady on Sunday 19th October 2014
Richmond 1 Carrigtwohill United 2
Carrigtwohill Scorers: Billy Manning. Shane Waters

Carrigtwohill travelled to Killeady on Sunday morning for their second round John Cook Cup tie with Richmond. Both sides have been going well in their leagues to date and this was evident in what was a very lively start to the match. Richmond played with the aid of a strong wind in the first half and used the elements to great effect for their goal after 10 minutes. Their keeper cleared a long ball down field and a rare lapse of concentration in Carrig’s defence allowed Richmond’s stricker in for the first goal of the game. Carrig’s defence recovered well and dominated the rest of the half even against the wind with some clever football keeping the ball on the ground and linking well with the midfield. For all their good work Carrig still finished the half one down.

Carrig were camped in Richmond’s half for most of the second half and had the home side defending for their lives. Carrigs constant pressure was rewarded 15 minutes into the half . Another great corner from Dylan McCann was hammered to the net by Billy Manning to level the match. Carrig continued to push on in search of a winner but were kept out by a dogged home defence. With 10 minutes left to play Richmond broke up the left wing and a good cross was met with a great header and it looked like Carrig were out of the cup but Carrig’s keeper Kudzai Mhondiwa made a magnificent one handed save to keep his team in the game. Carrig were on the attack for the remainder of the game and the winner came with only 1 minute on the clock . Again it was scored from a corner . Dylan McCann put the ball into the box for Shane Waters to score the winner . Well done lads this was a great team performance away from home .
