League v Carrigaline Hibernians in Ballea Park on Sunday 9th April 2017
Carrigaline United 1 Carrigtwohill United 1

We travelled to Carrigaline needing 3 points and a confidence boost. We started well with Conor Lee organising the back line and not letting anything through. However up the field, neither team could get a foothold in the game and it turned into a scrappy affair for majority of the first half. Carrig were fighting for the ball but couldn’t find each other and Carrigaline were starting to grow in confidence creating one or two chances, only to be denied by a great save by Darragh Desmond!

As the second half wore on, both teams started to find a bit more space on the pitch and the game opened up a bit more with Robert Adam and Jack Horgan having joy down the left, but we were undone by a simple ball over the top that ended up in the back of the net due to a lack of communication. 1-0, this meant Carrig had to push on with 15 minutes remaining and with a change in formation we started to get some passes together which led to a few corners which we couldn’t convert despite some great deliveries. Finally with 5 minutes left we were level through a David Rooney header after numerous blocked shots,1-1. We had a corner with the last kick of the game and were unlucky not to nick the three points! However a good performance overall and a solid formation to build on for the remaining six games of the season!!
