Under-15A CSL Div 4 at Ballyadam
Carrigtwohill United – 4
Lakewood – 3
Carrigtwohill welcomed Lakewood to Ballyadam to play them for the second week in a row with Carrig having lost 2-0 away last week.
The contest was played on our senior pitch, and the lads took to it well.
Both sides battled for possession during the first 30 minutes and Carrigtwohill took the lead on the 34th minute with a sweet strike from our captain Daniel MC that hit the underside of the crossbar. It was good effort from the keeper to keep it out but crossed the line to give the home side the lead at the break
2 minutes into the second half Carrigtwohill won a free kick just outside the box, up stepped Kevin our left legged maestro, a perfectly placed shot into top corner to make it 2-0.
Carrigtwohill kept the pressure on their opponents keeping their play maker under wraps through Shane who put in a superb graft in midfield.
10 minutes later, winger Kevin got into a great position after a good cross from the right, volleyed the incoming ball with the outside of his boot to beat the keeper once again.
3 up with 23 min to play.
Lakewood didn’t give up and a minute later they opened their scoring from a high ball over our defence and their striker somehow ended up with it at feet and an open goal. 3-1. In the 52nd minute Carrig scored their 4th, as the lone striker hit a looping strike over the keeper. 4-1
Lakewood won a corner, and their danger man had a free header to bring the game to 4-2.
The last 8 minutes brought unnecessary tension to the home side, Lakewood once again came back to score again with a few minutes to go. 4-3
The lads hung in and showed true grit until the final whistle to get their league chances back on track.
Huge thanks to our U14 players Sean og Madden and Evan O’Regan for playing up on the day.
