Midleton A – 0
Carrigtwohill United – 3
Carrigtwohill United U15s made the short trip to neighbours Midleton on Saturday morning for their second league game of the season. It was fantastic to see all 18 players present although three are recovering from injury and are still a week or two away from a return to action.
The visitors started well and had a good share of possession creating a number of chances as the half wore on but frustration set in and a combination of hurried passes and snatched opportunities meant the sides would go in level at halftime.
The second half saw a much more composed approach and the passing game of Carrigtwohill soon started to open up the Midleton defence. The first goal came on 51 minutes when a Rian Thornhill corner was meet by Noah Nsengiyumva, the header was only half cleared and captain Sean Og Madden was on hand to fire the ball home from 12 yards. The second soon followed when Thornhill provided a lovely through ball for Roan O Keeffe to run onto and the number 10 coolly slotted home with his left boot. Five minutes later from defending a free kick in their own half United broke and Madden slipped in Thornhill who finished with aplomb. Patience had paid off and in a ten minute spell the visitors were out of sight and coasting to a comfortable win. Any threat by Midleton was dealt with by a solid defence and some brave goalkeeping from Adam Lee. A perfect start to the season so far…..
Best for Carrigtwohill were Rian Thornhill, Roan O Keeffe and Adam Lee.
Man of the match goes to captain Sean Og Madden who drove on his team from start to finish and opened the scoring playing from right back. Well done all.
