Under-15 Div 1 at Ballyadam
Carrigtwohill United – 1
Leeds – 0
Carrigtwohill United’s Under-15 division 1 side had a tough home fixture Saturday morning against an in form and unbeaten Leeds side. It was a dry spring morning but blowing an almighty gale.
It was a slow start for both teams but the Carrig defence seemed the busier in the first half with a lot of pressure coming from the visitors.
Dennis was showing great composure at centre half alongside captain Colm dealing well with the active Leeds attacks.
Ethan and Jayden in the middle of the park were very industrious with some nice passages of play, Noah on right making good runs right from the start.
Carrigtwohill were awarded a free kick 25yards from goal and Alex Lombard struck what looked to be a great free but marginally went over the bar and the first half ended scoreless.
Second half Carrigtwohill came out a little hungrier and piled on the pressure with winger Leslie Edwards showcasing some great skills out on the left making life very difficulty for the visitors. Cian playing up front with Rollie was making some great runs and eventually it was Cian who had a strike from the right side which skimmed the crossbar and Rollie was in the right place and followed up with a pretty straight forward finish by his standard. Carrig took the well deserved lead with 15 min remaining. Leeds being Leeds never gave up and put up a brave fight until the bitter end.
On the day the home side were deserved winners, it was a very rewarding and much needed 3 points for Carrigtwohill United.
Solid defensive game from keeper Seba, Back 4 of Alex, Colm, Dennis, Esdras.
Midfield 4 of Noah, Jayden, Ethan, Leslie Front pairing of Kian, Rollie Man of match Leslie Edwards for a good second half frustrating the Leeds players.
These Carrig lads are a great unit and showed their guile and composure today to get right back into this tough division.
