League v Douglas Hall A in Moneygourney on Sunday 10th January 2016
Douglas Hall A 0 Carrigtwohill United 1
Scorer –
James Mulcahy.

Carrig secured a valuable 3 points away to Douglas Hall this morning. Carrig who were short 5 of the regular match squad had to dig deep to get the result. Douglas Hall started well but Carrig were being marshaled well by Conor Lee at the back and kept Douglas Hall at bay. Carrig took the lead after 7 minutes when in form James Mulcahy lobbed the keeper with a superb finish after good work from Rob in midfield. Carrig settled as the game became very scrappy with most of the play being done in midfield. Carrig had the best chance in the remainder of the half but James couldn’t beat the Hall keeper when through one on one.

Second half belonged to Douglas Hall as they dominated the territory but couldn’t break down the hard working Carrig team. And when they did they found keeper Darragh Desmond in top form, Darragh only back from a broken nose was excellent and contributed hugely to our win. But the man of the match goes to Conor Lee who’s ability to read the game and control his defence was top notch, and was the key reason we frustrated Douglas Hall in their search for an equaliser. Overall even though we didn’t have our best game, we showed the great fighting spirit to put in the hard yards to dig out the result. A trait like this is invaluable to a team that are genuine contenders for the league.
