Under-14A Division 5 at Castletreasure
Corinthian Boys – 2
Carrigtwohill United – 0
Carrigtwohill travelled to Castletreasure on a beautiful Saturday afternoon to take on league leaders Corinthians Boys B. Both teams know each other well having played each other numerous times over the last few years.
The game was played in great spirit with both sides giving their all. Both sides were playing attacking football trying to get the edge on each other. Carrig’s back four of were being put under pressure at times with Ben Healy and Elijah having to work hard and double up on a very pacy Corinthian’s winger. When Corinthians did eventually break through Kane was on hand to make a superb save at the feet of the striker.
The lads were giving their all and created numerous chances but just couldn’t convert them to get the goal they deserved. 3 mins before halftime the deadlock was broken when Corinthians pounced on the second ball in the box. Kane managed to get a hand to the ball but it somehow trickled over the line.
The second half was very similar to the first. Carrig were pushing for the equaliser, again creating numerous chances but it wasn’t to be. On 48 mins they were caught by a quick break down the right to go 2 down. It was always an uphill battle after this but in fairness the lads never gave up and tried to get a goal back to no avail. The game finished 2-0.
It was a good performance by the lads but just couldn’t get the goal they needed. Everyone contributed to an entertaining game. A special thank you has to go to Pol, Sean, Cathal and Eoin from the u13’s who slotted in today to cover the absence of some of our team and played really well. Player for the match goes to Elijah for working tirelessly on midfield. Well done lads.
