Carrigtwohill United – 2

Corinthians Boys B – 2

Scorers: Charlie Cambridge, Adam McCarty

The Carrigtwohill United Under-13’s played host to Corinthian Boys B in the latest round of the league. Before last weekend’s game a minute’s silence was held in memory of Peter Newman who was a Corinthians club member.

The weather conditions for the game weren’t ideal to say the least with the wind blowing a gale. That being said Carrigtwohill tried to keep the ball on the ground and fashioned a number of great early chances through Elia and Adam combining but just couldn’t add the final touch to get the goal they deserved.

The defence of Kane, Mantas, Ben Mc, Sam and Liam were coping really well against the wind and the midfield of Charlie, John, Darragh and Elijah were getting control of the game as the boys pushed to get ahead. However, after 20 minutes and against the run of play they were 0-1 behind when they failed to clear a corner and Corinthians scored with a great finish which was their first shot of the game.

The second half was evenly contested and Carrigtwohill were aided by the introduction of Divine, Emanuel, Ben Healy and Ben O Mahony and the home side got the goal they deserved. Charlie latched onto a great through ball to coolly finish to make it 1-1.

Unfortunately, Corinthians were ahead again 5 mins later when a cross took a wicked deflection into the back of the net. The boys redoubled their efforts and really pushed for an equaliser and with a few mins left Adam pounced to finish to make it 2-2.

Carrigtwohill pushed for a winner but ran out of time and had to be happy with the draw. They showed great spirit coming from behind twice.

It was a tough game to play in with great performances all throughout the team, it was hard to pick a man of the match but it will go to Captain for the day Liam O Connell who didn’t put a foot wrong all day. Well done lads.
