30th October 2021
Under-13 Div 8 at Ballea Park
Carrigaline United – 1
Carrigtwohill United – 2
It took Carrigtwohill a good 15 minutes in the first half to get to grips with the astro turf surface, the pitch size and slight breeze. The slow start saw them defend for most of this time and they were lucky to have not conceded more than just 1 goal.
They settled down eventually and were more comfortable in possession and created attacking chances when Liam Prendergast was very unlucky not to level the score before the half time whistle when his volley rattled the Carrigaline crossbar.
A very close fought second half brought the best out of the players, with great team spirit and relentless effort. Tunde Kareem scored a great goal to level the game. And Jerry O Donovan latched onto a clever Ben Kelly cross in the dying minutes to hit the net and finish the game as winners 2-1.
An exciting finish to a very sporting game with Carrigaline.
Tunde Kareem was a very deserving Man of the Match. His energy, speed, grit and determination inspired the whole squad in a convincing comeback.
