Under-12A Div 7 at Ballyadam Park
Carrigtwohill United A – 1
Leeds A – 0
Carrigtwohill United Under-12’s recorded their first league victory against Leeds in a Division 7 clash at Ballyadam Park this Sunday afternoon.
This was an impressive performance from the home side and the 1-0 scoreline doesn’t reflect their dominance. A good defensive shape, competitive midfield play and some very exciting attacking impressed the Carrigtwohill coaches as many aspects of their training sessions came to fruition in a game played at a pace more akin to a cup tie!
Chances came and went as Carrigtwohill found the Leeds keeper in fine form and the crossbar also came to the visitors rescue with Anna Madden heading close from a Josh O Herlihy corner. Something had to give and following sustained pressure from United Liam Walsh scored what would prove to be the winner just on the stroke of halftime.
The second half followed a similar pattern although the home side had to be alert to any danger posed by the Leeds counter attack. Jamie O Riordan was commanding at centre back and Max Ricken ever dependable between the sticks. Further goals would have followed only for the Leeds number 1 with Karol, Josh, Emily, Eoin and Nathan all having efforts saved and Roger hitting the crossbar from distance as well.
The cushion of a second goal never came and at 1-0 the game was always in the balance but the home side were good value for the 3 points in the end.
Best for Carrigtwohill were Zach, Josh and Liam but a great team performance. Well done all.
