Under-12A CSL Div 10
29th October 2022 at Ballea Park, Carrigaline
Carrigaline United – 0
Carrigtwohill United – 3
On Saturday lunchtime we travelled to Ballea Park, Carrigaline to take on Carrigaline United in the league.
Within the first few mins Carrigtwohill settled into the game with some wonderful passing in midfield and quickly took control of the game.
Carrigtwohill had the better opportunities in front of goal but we’re unable to convert these attacks into goals. They were rock solid in their defensive duties with Alex Doyle, Simas Valys and Killian O Halloran leading the way. Charlie McCann with his no nonsense approach was able to control the midfield area with complete dominance.
In the 21st min the defence were very calm in possession and played the ball out to Miloz Giec, who took the ball and with a fantastic first touch was able to pass to Kuba Czekaj who took the ball on the run and with a drop of the shoulder outsmarted the Carrigaline defender and struck a crisp shot which flew into the top corner to give Carrigtwohill a well-deserved 1-0 lead.
Carrigaline put on more pressure in search of an equalizer but Jamie Gray (goalkeeper) was in magnificent form and made 4 world class saves to keep the score at 1-0 to Carrigtwohill at half time.
As the 2nd half started the wind and rain picked up and both teams played some lovely football despite the change in weather.
The first 15 mins of the 2nd half was a tense affair for both teams but the Carrigtwohill defence were fantastic making Carrigaline to resort to long range shots.
A few substitutions were made and within 3 mins Jack O’Keeffe who was outstanding again had the ball at his feet and took on 3 Carrigaline players with ease and crossed the ball to Miloz Giec who then with a very effective pass to Cian McCann who took up a position on the edge of the box received the ball and with some fantastic trickery with his feet found some space and drilled the ball into the top corner of the net while the keeper went in the other direction.
With time running out Carrigtwohill weren’t finished and with confidence very high within the team, pushed forward to get the 3rd goal and they were rewarded once again in the 54min when Cian McCann took possession inside his own half and played a wonderful pass to split the Carrigaline defence in two and Jack O’Keeffe raced forward onto the pass from Cian. Jack’s first touch was perfect to put the ball into his stride, the defence couldn’t catch him and then Jack was 1 on 1 with the Carrigaline goalkeeper who sprinted out. Jack slotted the ball perfectly past the keeper to make it 3-0.
Carrigtwohill truly deserved all 3 points today and it was a fantastic display from the entire team with a special mention to Jamie Gray who was man of the match with some world class saves.
Carrigtwohill Scores: Kuba Czekaj 21min, Cian Mc Cann 48 min, Jack o Keeffe 54 min
