Under-12A Div 7 at Ballyadam
Carrigtwohill United – 2
Bweeng Celtic – 3
Carrigtwohill United Under-12’s put in their best performance of the season as they pushed league leaders Bweeng Celtic all the way to the final whistle in a classic division 7 game at Ballyadam Sunday morning.
It was the visitors that took the lead but Carrigtwohill responded with a fine run and finish from JP. Level at the break the home side really upped the ante in the 2nd half and took the game to the North Cork side. With Emily playing a blinder and Karol & JP causing the opposition all sorts of problems going forward it was United that looked more likely to score but Bweeng went ahead against the run of play.
Carrigtwohill now threw everything at them and were caught on the counter attack to fall 3-1 behind despite the best efforts of Max Ricken in goal. Down but not out this spirited gang again drove forward through the ever industrious Anna Madden and got their reward when a Bweeng defender put the ball in his own net!
Carrigtwohill will be disappointed at not taking at least a point from this fixture but can hold their heads high as they turned in a superb team display that deserved more.
Best for Carrigtwohill were JP, Karol and Max but player of the game goes to Emily Bernard who shone in a number of roles. Well done all.
