Under-10

Carrigtwohill United

V Carrigaline Hibs V Passage United

8 & 15th Sept 2019

Carrigtwohill United Under-10’s second and third league games came in quick succession with two difficult away matches V Carrigaline Hibs on the 8th and Passage on the 15th.

Under-10’s is a jump for all the boys and girls as they move from 5-a-side match day setups in previous seasons to 7-a-side matches. Across the two games it was great to see the players positional sense improve significantly after only 3 league games this season.

There is a learning curve as players acquire a deeper understanding of football in 7 aside matches. They play in different positions and it is passing, possession, along with individual ball skills which is to the fore in these matches. In fact, there was some terrific passing movements on display in both matches Both matches were keenly contested and this group of kids have a great desire to chase the ball down, run back into position when the ball has been lost and to defend. Both days were unusually, but very welcome, warm days – great therefore to see the fabulous effort put in by all the players.

There were plenty of goals and lots of good moments for each of the players. Lots of positives to take away and we look forward to working on their skills in the weeks and months ahead. Plenty of more games and match day opportunities for all our squad, well done to all the kids and parents too for the great commitment shown so far.
