Development League v Lakewood Athletic in Ballyadam Park on Sunday 13th October 2013

On a pleasent day for football, Carrig played Lakewood Athletic in a very intertaining game. The game started brightly with two even teams. Darragh Hannigan was playing very well in goals, and was well assisted in defence by Ronan Ymendji. Lakewood were playing the ball around very well. Carrig responded with good play from Alex Kidney, Cian Leahy, Niall Harte and Ben Naughton. David Joseph was playing very well at the back with Jack Barrett.

Lakewood began to put Carrig under pressure, but again the boys responded, with Cian Bolger storming into the game. Calvin Fitzgerald and John Nolan gave the team a fresh boast, as both teams continued to play excellant football. Alfred Ikhale was getting involved and Eloghosa Oduware was attacking the ball well in defence. Strong running from midfiled and up front by Ronan McCrave ensured we were always a threat. With Darragh Hannigan now out field and Ben Naughton in goals we pushed on. A great finish ensued with all players doing their best. Overall a great team performance by everyone. Well done lads.

Development League v Richmond in Garrandaragh on Sunday 22nd September 2013

Carrig U11 played our second league match away to Richmond last Sunday morning. It turned out to be a great contest. Niall Hart was causing the opposition trouble, with Ronan MacCrave and Kelvin Waters working hard up front. Richmond got back into the game, scoring some good goals. It could have been worse for the Carrig boys, but Ben Naughton was playing very well in goals, and was well assisted by Calvin Fitzgerlad who was clearing a lot of balls. Cian Leahy came close to a goal for Carrig, his shot going narrowly wide. Liam Scriven was playing solidly as was Nathan Gomesz. A penalty was conceeded by Carrig, but Ben brought off a great save.

The Second half resumed with Richmond in the asendency. John Nolan and Jack Barrett where working hard and with Darragh Hannigan they slowly got more onto the game. Kuba Hoft was having a fine game, and set up many attacks for his team. Carrig finished the stronger of the two teams.

Development League v Grenagh in Ballyadam Park on Sunday 8th September 2013

Carrig U 11opened their league campaign againist Grenagh. The game opened brightly with Grenagh racing into a lead before Carrig had settled. Once Carrig settled they where well in the game and a goal mid way through the half settled them. With Ronan Ymrdji doing well at the back, the game ebbed and flowed before Grenagh struck for two more quick goals. Carrig recomposed themselves and with Lorcan Walsh making a few good saves and Kuba Hoft running well at midfield the game was very open. John Nolan was defending well along side new comer Nathen Gomesz, with Cian Leahy also doing well. Grenagh with some good passing where dangerous on the ball.

Cian Bolger was well in the game for Carrig, and was clearing a lot of ball and with Calvin Fitzgerald they began to create openings. Some good defending by Grenagh kept the Carrig boys at arms length. With Liam Scriven and Kelvin Walters getting more of the ball in the second half a revival was on the cards. Ronan McCrave worked hard up front and was our most dangerous forward. Grenagh where well prepared and defended well. Carrig struck late for a good team goal. With the league up and running, the boys have a lot to learn, but their was a great team strip and great encouragement amongst the players and a great effort put in by all.
