MSL Senior
Riverstown – 0
Carrigtwohill United – 0
30th Nov 2019 at Riverstown
On Saturday last, Carrigtwohill Utd seniors travelled to Riverstown who currently sit 2nd in the table. The game began with the home team trying to impose their style, and Carrigtwohill’s defence had to be disciplined and organised from the first whistle,
The first real chance came for Riverstown when they got in one on one, but Adrian O’Donovan in goals was able to deny them with a great finger tip save. As the game wore on, Carrigtwohill grew in confidence and were starting to create chances. Kevin Daly on the left wing passed the ball to Patrik Keyes, who passed to Zack Casagranda, who laid it off for Daly to cross in a great ball which Michael Deasy headed over the keeper but onto the crossbar!!
Soon after, Carrigtwohill had the ball in the net after quick thinking from Luke Smith and a smart finish from Patrik Keyes but he was denied by the offside flag. The battle in midfield was constant with both teams fighting for every 50/50 especially Michael and James Furlong winning both duals in the air and on the deck. The first half ended 0-0
The 2nd half began with both teams believing that 3 points were on the table. Carrigtwohill were pressing further up the field while still being disciplined at the back with Darragh McCann captaining the side and organising his defence. Riverstown were now starting to push on and were creating more chances which forced Adrian O’Donovan into making a few saves. Carrigtwohill meanwhile had got a few corners thanks to good work down the right hand side from Shane O’Hanlon and David Rooney who had replaced Michael Deasy. However, they couldn’t make the corners count due to some good goalkeeping
As the final 5 minutes approached, Riverstown threw everything at Carrigtwohill but some fantastic defending from Ethan Daly-Harkin kept them at bay.
Riverstown had a corner for the last kick of the game that was dealt with by the Carrigtwohill defence and the referee called a halt to proceedings.
Next fixture is at home to Wilton next Saturday 7th of December at 2pm. All support greatly appreciated
