10th November at Leeds Park

On a wintery Saturady afternoon, the Carrigtwohill Under-11’s travelled to Leeds Park in Ballyvolane to take on Leeds in their latest round of league fixtures.

With no games played for the last three weeks due to postponements and cancellations the kids were chomping at the bit for a game of ball. With a panel 24 strong, Carrigtwohill had hoped to field 3 teams of 7-aside to give the lads a good run out and plenty of game time.

However, Leeds could only field 2 teams of 6 aside and the games were played on a small sized astro pitch which was not ideal. Saying that, such is the enthusiasm of the players that two jumpers on the ground of the shopping centre car park would have constituted a game for them!

With such a tight area to play, passing had to be crisp and sharp and credit to the lads they tried their best to cope with the limited space. Shooting was always an option when the ball was played into midfield and all games were high scoring with some spectacular individual efforts.

Thanks to hosts Leeds, who had to deal with the unconventional playing set up also. Well done to all involved, another great display of commitment from players and parents alike.
