Two Carrigtwohill United teams played against 2 teams in Carrigaline on Saturday last. It was a windy cold day but all players did the blue jerseys proud for their efforts and teamwork.
For Team Carrigtwohill: Callum Foley made some great stops as goalkeeper and distributed clever kick outs both with and against the wind. Alan O’ Brien is turning into a very reliable defender with a keen eye for keeping our box safe and driving the team forward. Fionn, Barry and Evan Foley again shone in defence with brave tackling and clearances, working hard and clearing our lines.
Noel O’ Donovan used the wings to help feed our attacking line. Luke Guerin ran box to box and was full of energy. Ben Kelly was the playmaker in midfield always looking for link up play. Zack Greene was very solid in defence and supported the midfield when they were under pressure. Ben Joyce used clever footwork and passing to feul the attack. Dylan Joyce ran his heart out and helped to set up one of our goals when Conor Coughlan used his quick thinking to slide the ball into the back of the net. Alex O’ Sullivan is improving every week, tackling with gusto and scored a sweet goal into the wind when the team needed a lift. Overall, an improving team performance with lots of effort that the coaches are very proud of.
For Team Ballyadam:
Cal Flavin is getting better every game he plays , some great saves today and always finds a player with his kick outs. The defence didn’t give the home team many chances with Hugh Crowley and Ross Dorney stopping anything that came through the middle and were helped by Gary Óg, Callum O’ Byrne and Sean Barry who also started our attacks from out wide. In midfield it was a great battle to see our lads control the game against strong opponents. Liam Prendergast driving forward at every moment. Eoin Garvey and Pol O’Connor covered every inch of the pitch and both linking up well with Jack Lombard to set up attacks and up front was Rob Cottet and Rory Nolan who always work their socks off for the team , overall a great team performance with lovely passing and moving off the ball !!
The coaches are delighted to see the hard work in training paying off on the pitch.
