U17 League v Youghal in Ardrath Park on Sunday 7th September 2014
Carrigtwohill 3 Youghal 1
Carrigtwohill Scorers: Cormac Horgan (pen), Conor Harte, Cathal Roche.

On Sunday afternoon, we travelled to Ardrath Park to take on Youghal in our third league game and came away with all 3 points. In the first 30 minutes, there was not much between the times although Carrig had the better chances to open the scoring. Then on the 32nd following good interplay between Simon Doyle and Cormac Horgan, Jamie Long went on a spectacular run which ended in him being brought down in the box, Cormac Horgan stepped up to take the penalty and converted well. The half ended with Carrig 1 nil up.

The second half commenced and Carrig asserted there dominance all over the pitch. And on the 55th minute, a good pass from Conor Keegan found Conor Harte who turned his man and struck a great shot leaving the keeper with no chance. With Carrig dominating the game, Billy Manning and Cathal Roche came on for Conor Keegan and Conor Harte. Minutes later, Roche pounced on a great cross from Andrew McMahon and scored at the near post. Morgan Doody replaced Simon Doyle on the 8th minute. Carrigtwohill’s back 4 of Cameron Smyth, Tom O’ Brien, Sean O’ Sullivan and Jamie Long stood firm all day but we’re unlocked by a wonder strike by Youghal to deny Carrig an elusive clean sheet.
