League v Corinthians Boys A in Castletreasure on Saturday 5th September 2015
Corinthians Boys A 2 Carrigtwohill United 2
Scores – Shane O’Hanlon, David Ryan.
Carrig’s U16s traveled for the first game in this years Division 2. Continuing with the 3-4-3 formation that has worked so well in pre season, Carrig set out to pin the home team back and dominate possession and that was exactly what happened. In the first half Carrig’s back three performed excellently with Corinthians causing them no hassle at all only getting a long shot away that was well saved by stand in keeper Taran Troy. Carrig nearly scored from a free kick straight off the training ground Alan Warren very unlucky there and with the majority of the ball Shane O’Hanlon, Shane Waters, David Ryan and Tristan Horgan were cutting Corinthians apart with some neat triangle play. Alan Warren was unlucky again not to score after getting in behind the home teams defense as did Tommy Butler but the Corinthians keeper made some cracking saves to keep it 0-0 at the break.
The second half came and started much the same, however a lapse in concentration at the back gave the home side the lead as when left two on two going forward the Corinthians number 9 slotted a header home. Carrig responded well Jason Collins and Rutendo Katsa making a difference having come off the bench. We equalized with 20 left from a well worked corner, headed home by Shane O’Hanlon and 10 minutes later David Ryan slotted home from outside the box to make it 2-1. Corinthians got into our box for only the second time in the half and scored again when the Corinthians number 9 was brought down and the penalty slotted past the unlucky Troy. Carrig would not lie down though and dominated again, Shane Waters was hacked down in the box when through on goal but no penalty was given, to the surprise of both sidelines. The game finished 2-2.
