Under-14A Local Cup at Killeady

Richmond – 1

Carrigtwohill United – 0

This was the first game in 8 months for Carrigtwohill Under-14A who travelled away to Richmond in the Local Cup. Richmond are a Division 3 team so they were well up for a tough match.

In the first half, Carrigtwohill totally controlled the game, playing a high line and pressing Richmond back into their own half. The defence of Alex, Luke, Callum and Jacub held their line and nerve very well, until a unlucky bounce of a through ball beat them for the first time and was finished into the back of the net by Richmond against the run of play.

Midfielders Brian, Kevin, DanielC and Rory fought a tough battle to spread the ball down the wings with Kevin putting in some great crosses for strikers Kieran and Daniel Mac, with chances from both strikers just falling short of hitting the back of the net.

The second half started with high tempo. Alex Sull, Cian, Adam and Cillian had come on to keep the pressure on a very resilient Richmond team. Unfortunately they couldn’t get the vital goal they needed.

A great game of football was on show with Carrigtwohill playing the best football of the night and terribly unlucky not to get the result which they truly deserved as for the whole game Richmond were on the back foot against a very well disciplined Carrigtwohill team.

Best of luck to Richmond in their cup journey
