Carrig were slow to start and found themselves second to the ball and out- muscled in the tackle. We found ourselves 2-0 down to poor goals from our point of view. However a rocket of a free from Adam Rooney gave us hope coming into half time. Lakewood scored again in the first half from an offside position which made our task even more difficult. To be fair to Lakewood they were the better team and deserved their lead at half time.
We changed formation at half time with the introduction of Joshua Ryan at centre back who had a brilliant game. Carrig worked harder in the second half and out fought Lakewood. We need to get the next goal from which we could push on, but Lakewood got it against the run of play. Carrig tried to push Lakewood back and Piaras Fitzpatrick scored from a volley but we were running out of time. Cameron Kenefick made a great save from a penalty to keep us in touch but our first half performance was one we couldn’t recover from.
Liam Moore had a good game as did Adam Rooney and Piaras Fitzpatrick. Eric O Sullivan, Cian O Riordan and Cody Cunningham played well in the second half.
Man of the match goes to Joshua Ryan at centre back. Congrats to November player of the month Oisin Lynch. Training again at 18:20 Tuesday at AstroTurf.
