Blackwater Cup v Midleton A in Knockgriffin on Sunday 26th November 2017
Midleton A 1 Carrigtwohill United 2
Scores: Tadgh Sullivan Cian Lee

We travelled the short distance to Midleton for the first round of the Blackwater Cup on a crisp Sunday morning. A bright start to the game saw defences on top both ends with clear cut chances at a premium. As half time approached Carrig started to get on top in midfield but had no goals to show for there effort. Half time nil all.

The second half started with Carrig creating the better chances but failing to convert any and Midleton took the lead after a corner was not dealt with properly and we found ourselves 1 down against the run of play. In fairness the Carrig lads responded in brilliant fashion and showed there growing maturity and game play when man of the match Tadgh Sullivan took up the ball on the right wing and drove at the Midleton defence to unleash a great shot which beat the keeper. 1 all. As hard as the both teams tried the game ended in a draw.

Extra time now required fellas to dig deep and the Carrig lads were not found wanting. All the effort put in was rewarded with 2 minutes left when midfielder Cian Lee lobbed the goalie to help seal a well deserved win.

Player of the Match; Tadgh Sullivan
