Under-12
Carrigtwohill United – 1
Blarney United – 4
13th September 2019 at Ballyadam Park
Three goals in 8 minutes saw Carrigtwohill United Under-12’s undone in their Division 1 clash at home to Blarney last Friday evening. This division is proving tough for these lads but going on early results every team looks capable of beating each other so a season of highs and lows is anticipated.
Both sides looked evenly matched in the opening 20 minutes with half chances falling either way but Blarney grabbed every opportunity in the final 8 minutes leading up to halftime and gave the home side a mountain to climb after the break.
Changes were rung at the interval and Carrigtwohill settled into the game looking much more solid with Osas Aghedo playing a pivotal role in the centre of the park (he would cap his display with a fine goal on 49 mins). It must be said the home side grew into the game and dominated for the most part through the second half with Evan O’Regan O’Connor causing all sorts of problems for the visitors. Kyle and Cillian again led the line but couldn’t add to Osas’s goal.
With Carrigtwohill pushing to get something out of the game Blarney would grab a 4th goal in injury time. Well done lads, great spirit shown to keep going when things got tough. Next up is a cup fixture and hopefully a change in fortune will see them get back to winnings ways.
Player of the Match: Evan O’Regan O’Connor
