Challenge Match v Everton in St Finbarr’s on Saturday 2nd April 2016

A friendly match against Everton was the ideal preparation for the squad in view of the season restarting next weekend.

Some change of plan came at the last minute as small goals were finally not available and the game had to be played on a full pitch, in big goals. At that stage the fact that only 10 Carrig players came to play the match became a bit more of a problem as the 9v9 turned into a 10v10, meaning Carrig had no subs.

The full pitch also entailed a lot of running and as long as the legs were still fresh, Carrig competed well, staying in touch with Everton. However, as time passed, legs got tired and gaps began to appear, leading to a more one-sided second half.

However, this was a very useful way to get back into the spirit of the league matches.

The first picture is the standard team picture – the second one shows the team spirit displayed by this group of players – absolutely intact despite the very tough match!! 🙂

Well done to all.
