On Sunday morning our under 16A team faced Springfield A away in the local cup.
Carrigtwohill started very brightly scoring in the first minute with somewhat of a scramble in the box, the ball fell to Adam Mc who stuck the ball in the net from close range. Carrigtwohill controlled the first half with some lovely football both from Jack and Franek in midfield as well as some good link up play between Liam, Charlie and Martin on the left hand side. Jack came close to scoring but his shot crashed off the post, with Adam also testing the Springfield keeper.
The second half started with some good play from Carrigtwohill who came close to scoring from the off. Adam Mc again forcing a fine save from the Springfield keeper who was having a terrific performance. With the game at 1 nil it was all to play for. Springfield pushed hard for an equalizer with some lovely passing play forcing a fantastic save from Carrig keeper kane Mellis to keep the score at 1 nil. Springfeild mounted further attacks which were dealt with by the Carrig back 4 who were solid all game. Elijah O’ Reardan stood out at the back with a terrific performance.
The game finished 1 nil to Carrigtwohill who progress to the next round.
