Carrigtwohill United Under-16’s travelled to Avondale this weekend for this week’s league fixture.
The first 10 minutes was evenly contested with both sides were sussing each other out.
Carrigtwohill made the breakthrough on the 13th minute when Niall Barry lofted a dangerous ball into the danger area of the 6-yard box making the defender and keeper undecided who would claim the ball resulting with the ball ending up in the back of the net.
On the 26th minute a penalty was awarded as an Avondale player was adjudged to have been fouled in the box. The resulting penalty was well taken and scored.
Carrigtwohill scored their second goal on the 31th minute, Kyle Kidney finishing the ball into the net after the keeper parried a free kick from Roan O’Keeffe.
The introduction of Dominic Yuric, Noah Eddins, Rian Thornhill and Tom Walsh in the second half gave Carrigtwohill an impact straight away. The three players had fine games and worked hard throughout.
Roan O’Keeffe scored Carrigtwohill’s third goal as he slide acrobatically and made good contact with the ball just outside the box from a Dominic Yuric throw on the 58th minute.
Carrigtwohill’s fourth goal came on the 62nd minute. Rian Thornhill took the ball at pace from an Evan O Regan-O Connor pass, dribbled the ball and riffled a bullet of a shot into the bottom corner of the goal giving the keeper no chance.
Sean Og Madden grabbed Carrigtwohill’s fifth and final goal of the game on the 78th minute well placing the ball into the top corner of the net after Noah Nsengiyumva poked the ball out from a 50/50 challenge.
Avondale scored their second goal of the day on the 81st minute with the last kick of the game.
All players contributed to this win and most importantly the performance.
