Carrigtwohill United – 3

Lyre Rovers – 0

A good hard fought win down in West Cork against Lyre Rovers.
The game opened with a flurry of tackles in midfield, to say a few meaty challenges were exchanged would be an understatement but finally Carrigtwohill started stringing a few passes together and led to a few chances.
Neat work down the right between Pranav and Filip resulted in a shot on goal from Matty which hit the side netting.
We were really in control now and another shot from Ryan Moore brought out an excellent save from the opposition goalkeeper.
A free from the right hand side resulted in a headed goal from Ryan Moore after a great ball in front Ryan Collins, 1 – 0.

We had the ball in the net again a few minutes later after a wonderful strike from Malachy from 25 yards but it was disallowed for a player in an offside position.

We extended our lead shortly afterwards after a free kick from the left by Sam sailed right through the defence into the far corner 2-0.
2nd half had more of an end to end aspect to it with chances for both teams, we had chances from Scott power,  Jack O’Keeffe and Ryan Moore but unfortunately couldn’t score.

With only a few minutes to go we got a 3rd goal after great work on the right side from kuba, he played a lovely ball to Scott who broke away from the full back and Scott put Ryan Moore in on goal, Ryan unselfishly squared the ball to Filip who tapped it into the net 3-0.

A special mention to a local referee who stepped in at the last minute to Referee the game which turned out to be his last game as a Referee after 30 years Refereeing, we never got his name but from all at Carrigtwohill football club we wish you well in retirement.
