Carrigtwohill United 3 Mallow United 3
Scorers – Darragh McCann 2, Stephen Folasade.
We played Mallow in our first league game of the season on Wednesday evening in Ballyadam. Carrig had the better of the play in the opening 20 minutes and should have been 2 up but Mallow’s keeper made 2 great saves to keep his side in the game. After all their good play Carrig were a goal down on the half hour mark after Mallow scored from a corner. But Carrig were level 5 minutes later when Stephen Folasade broke down the wing and scored with an unstoppable shot to the corner of the net. Then just before half time Mallow were 2 – 1 up when their striker scored at the back post.
Again Carrig were very positive in the opening exchanges of the second half and looked dangerous every time they had the ball however it was Mallow who added to their score to go 3 – 1 up after the Ref allowed a clear offside to go unpunished. Carrig continued to play some good football and were rewarded with a free on the edge of the box. Darragh McCann stepped forward and cleverly hammered the ball low to the corner of the net to make it 3 – 2. With 15 minutes remaining Carrig had Mallow under pressure but the visitors keeper was having a great game and produced a couple of great saves to keep his side ahead. After another good attack Carrig got an indirect free in the penalty box and with only 5 minutes remaining Manning tapped the ball to McCann who scored another brilliant goal to level the match 3 – 3.
Player of the Match – Darragh McCann.
