League v Watergrasshill United in Skehanagh Park on Friday 6th May 2016
Watergrasshill United 1 Carrigtwohill United 2
Scorers –
Billy Manning, Darragh McCann.

We travelled to Watergrasshill on Friday evening for a 7.30 kick off. It was important to get off to a good start and the lads didn’t disappoint. From the kick off we were on the attack with Tommy Buttler and Brendan Twomey causing the home side plenty of problems down the wings. Our midfield controlled the game and Watergrasshill found it hard to get out of their own half. We had a few good chances to take the lead but the Hill defended for their lives to keep us out. The best of our chances in the first half fell to Buttler and Grimes.

We started the second half as we did the first and should have taken advantage of some good possession. But it was the home side who scored first when their stricker got on the end of a long clearance from his keeper and scored with their first chance after 55 minutes. To their credit the lads didn’t panic and played their way back into the game. Their reward came 10 minutes later when Billy Manning scored with a great header to level the game. We continued to attack and with 15 minutes remaining Darragh McCann scored with another header to make it 2 – 1 to Carrig. After having all the ball and going a goal down against the run of play the lad showed great character to come back with 2 goals against a stubborn home defence.
