League v Temple United in Temple Park on Wednesday 20th April 2016
Temple United 2 Carrigtwohill United 4
Scorers –
Billy Manning 2, Brendan Twomey, Philip Dorgan.

Our U17’s were on the road on Wednesday night taking on Temple in Temple Park. After the disappointment of Sunday’s loss it was important to get back to winning ways. An excellent start to the game was topped off with a goal after 10 minutes. A great move involving Billy Manning and Philip Dorgan put Brendan Twomey through and he hammered the ball to the net from the edge of the box to make it 1-0 to Carrig. A comfortable first half saw Carrig score their second goal 5 minutes before half time when Manning rose highest at the back post to head home John Hydes free kick.

The second half kicked off and again Carrig were in control. A huge kick out from Liam McCarthy was controlled by Twomey and he put Dorgan through on goal but the keeper saved the shot and Manning headed the rebound to the net for his second on the night to make it 3-0 to the visitors. Then Carrig fell asleep and allowed a low cross from the right to pass 4 defenders and be tapped in at the back post 3-1. Carrig’s response was good with Hyde and Grimes working hard in the middle of the park to get control of the game. Some good pressure was rewarded when Dorgan popped up in the box to volley the ball to the net from close range 4-1. With 2 minutes remaining Temple headed in at the back post to make it 4-2 to Carrig.
