League v Riverstown in Ballyadam Park on Sunday 17th April 2016
Carrigtwohill United 2 Riverstown 4
Scorers – Gary O’Brien, Billy Manning.
Carrig U17’s played Riverstown on Sunday afternoon in a top of the table clash. In a crazy start to the match Carrig were 1 up after 3 minutes when Gary O’Brien scored a great goal from the edge of the box. However the lead was short lived when Riverstown scored from the kick off to make it 1-1. After a very even 30 minute spell Riverstown scored taking advantage of a mistake in the home defence and finished the half 2-1 up.
Carrig were quick out of the blocks in the second half and were rewarded when Billy Manning scored a penalty to level the game 2-2. Carrig were on top for most of the second half but failed to score from any of the many good chances they created and after another mistake were 3-2 down with only 10 minutes remaining. Carrig were now chasing the game and pushed forward in search of an equaliser but they were punished when Riverstown scored their 4th goal to win 4-2. This was very entertaining game with both sides playing some good football.
Player of the Match – Shane Waters.
