League Cup v Midleton in Knockgriffin on Friday 18th August 2017
Midleton 3 Carrigtwohill United 5
Scores: Conor Ronayne 4, Oskar Janke.

Carrig’ s first game of the season was against local rivals Midleton. Midleton started the better and were looking threatening on the break. But with a strong wind in our favour, Carrig took a lead through a superb strike from Conor Ronayne. Carrig were rusty as we’ve had little training and no pre season games, but we still doubled our lead before the break again Ronayne who was clinical. 2 nil at the break.

Second half saw Midleton press to get back in the game but Carrig were defending well. It took a line error for Midleton to score their first. The lead wasn’t down to one for long as Ronayne again increased Carrig lead with yet another clinical goal. Midleton were not out though, and were level within 10mins after a great individual goal and a thunderous header from a corner. Carrig were not to be beat though and with 10 mins to go again it was man of the match Ronayne who scored his fourth. The game was put to bed by Oskar with a lovely finish from the edge of box.

Great result for the lads.

Player of the Match; Conor Ronayne.
