National Cup v Leeside in Little Island on Sunday 4th October 2015
Leeside 5 Carrigtwohill United 1
Scorer – Darragh McCann.
We travelled to Little Island on Sunday to play local rivals Leeside in the FAI Youth Cup. Leeside playing in the Premier League looked the stronger side from the kickoff and scored their first goal from a corner after just 5 minutes. They camped in our half for the next 10 minutes but slowly we got back into the game and were denied a goal when Leeside’s goalie made a great from Brendan Twomey. We were competing well heading to half time but Leeside scored two quick goals to make it 3-0 at the break.
We had the better of the exchanges for the first 20 minutes of the second half but could not break down the home defence and were punished when Leeside scored from a long ball through the middle. Again we regrouped and were rewarded when Darragh McCann got forward and scored the goal of the day with a shot from 30 yards to the roof of the net to make it 4-1 to Leeside. Then Leeside wrapped up a convincing win with their 5th goal from a corner. We played well on the day but our Premier opposition were just too strong for us.
