League v Everton in Lenaghmore Park on Sunday 1st May 2016
Everton 3 Carrigtwohill United 2
Scorers –
Darragh McCann, Brendan Twomey.

We travelled to Lenaghmore Park on Sunday afternoon to play Everton in a very important league game with only one point between the teams the winner would open up a four point gap. Everton got off to a flyer and were a goal up one minute into the game after a high ball into the box went in at the back post. Against a strong wind the lads played their way back into the game. They had a few chances to draw level but Everton’s keeper was having a good day and denied them an equaliser. On 20 minutes the ref awarded Everton a very soft penalty but man of the match Liam McCarthy made a fantastic one handed save to turn the ball around his post and keep the score 1-0 at half time to the home team .

Carrig were a different team in the second half and were level after 5 minutes when Darragh McCann headed Billy Manning’s free to the net. Carrig were dictating the game now and went  2-1 up when Brendan Twomey with the aid of the wind scored from outside the box. As has been the case in recent matches the lads failed to add to our lead even though we had some good chances. With 15 minutes remaining Everton scored against the run of play to make it 2-2 and added the winner 5 minutes later to it make 3-2 . This was a great performance by the lads but some clinical finishing won the game for Everton.
