Evergreen 0 Carrigtwohill United 11
Scores – Brendan Twomey 3, Billy Manning 2, Darragh McCann 2, Liam Gosnell, John Hyde, Kevin Coady, David Grimes .
This was Carrig’s second Friday night trip to Deerpark in as many weeks and it proved to be another good night for the lads . The weather was awful and even though the pitch was in great condition it was a surprise when the ref let the game go ahead. Carrig put the disappointment of the previous Sunday behind them and were 1 up after 5 minutes when Philip Dorgan was fouled in the box and Billy Manning scored the penalty. 15 minutes later Manning scored his second when he ran onto a great cross from Brendan Twomey .Then on the half hour mark Manning turned provider with a great pass through the middle for Twomey to run on to and score his first goal of the night to make it 3-0 . It was 4-0 to Carrig 5 minutes later when Manning and Twomey combined again and Twomey scored from the edge of the box.
The rain stopped for the second half and Carrig took advantage of the better conditions playing some great football. Darragh McCann’s pass set Liam Gosnell clear on the wing and he cut inside two defenders to score number 5. Carrig were camped in Evergreen’s half now and McCann got number 6 from David Grimes corner. Then Kevin Coady got in on the act when he scored from John Hydes corner from the other side of the pitch to go 7-0 ahead. Another corner from Grimes was headed in by McCann to make it 8-0 just before Brendan Twomey scored his hatrick and number 9 after a great move through the middle of the pitch. John Hyde and David Grimes worked hard all night and both were rewarded when Hyde scored number 10 and Grimes got 11 in the final few minutes of the game. This was a great performance by the lads on a bad night.
