Carrigtwohill United – 3

Mallow United A – 2

The boys made the journey to Mallow United for their latest league game. The pitch and weather were perfect for what turned out to be a very entertaining game.

The game as expected was a bit frantic at the start, both teams testing each other out. We seemed to settle quicker into the game with Lewis and Franek linking up well to put Mallow under pressure. The whole team were working hard with Liam Coady and Charlie were creating half chances which we were unlucky not to take. We took the lead early into the game when Adam capitalized on some super pressing from Charlie to put us one up. Unfortunately the lead lasted less than 2 mins when we failed to clear the ball. this seemed to give the home side more confidence and were pushing for a second and they went 2-1 up on 35mins. We had a couple of half chances to level but finished the first half trailing.

The second half was much better for the lads, they had the belief they could get back into the game and really put in a super effort. We were level on 49mins after Ben McCarty won a cracking challenge, then drove forward to tee Adam up for his second of the game, 2-2 and game on. The lads weren’t content with a draw and pushed forward with both Franek and Divine going close. Kane was showing safe hands in goal ably assisted by Elijah and Jack in front of him, this gave us the solid platform to really drive forward with Martin and Zach finding space and causing all sorts of problems. What turned out to be the winner came after a piercing through ball from Liam O Connell was picked up by Adam to coolly finish to complete his hat-trick. We had another couple of chances to kill the game off, notably an unbelievable 40yrd run from Ben Healy, leaving a trail of Mallow players behind him before being thwarted in front of goal. The game finished with a 3-2 win for the lads.

Today was all about the team, every player contributed and played their part to get the win. There were some very solid performances all over the pitch but player of the match has to go to Adam McCarty, grabbing himself a hat-trick on the day. Well done lads.
