Lakewood Athletic 3 Carrigtwohill United 3 (Lost on penalties)
Scorers –
Mark Daly, Shane Waters, Jason Collins.

Carrig 16s went our of the local cup on Friday night on penalties, but can take so much from a game in which they came from behind on three occasions even after playing nearly 50 minutes with only ten men against high flying Lakewood.

Carrig started slowly and were behind early on when our defense was caught out by a high ball into the sun, the Lakewood striker finishing well. 3 minutes later however Carrig were level when Mark Daly drilled home a superb goal from outside the box after a lovely ball from Tristan Horgan. Lakewood took the lead again soon after, when the referee gave a penalty despite Emmanuel clearly winning the ball.

The second half started with Carrig dominating play, David Ryan was clearly brought down in the box but no penalty was given just before the game was then turned on its head when the referee gave two quick fire soft yellow cards to Shane O’Hanlon, again after winning the ball in the tackle and the second for throwing the ball away. This didn’t stop Carrig dominating and the equalized again after a brilliant ball from Tristan, crossed again by Jason Collins and finished by Shane Waters.

Extra time came, Lakewood took the lead again, but despite being out on their feet our lads pushed on and equalized once again, Jason Collins this time, There were chances for Carrig to get a deserved winner but luck was just not on our side. Sore legs stood up to take the penalties, a lottery and Lakewood progressed 4-3.
