Carrigtwohill played Everton in the Local Cup at Ballyadam on Sunday morning. The home side were aided by a strong wind in the first half and had the visitors under pressure from the start of the game. Carrig should have scored from a corner after 5 minutes but Evertons defence cleared the ball of the line. The visitors keeper was busy for the rest of the half and was fortunate not to concede a goal. Although Carrig were the better side they finished the half 1 goal down when Everton scored against the run of play.
Carrig were the stronger side in the second half and dominated most of the play. They managed the conditions well and kept the ball on the ground but could not make the breakthrough . With 10 minutes to go Carrig were still 1 goal down and were camped in Everton’s half when the visitors scored from a quick break to make it 2-0. Carrig conceded a third goal as they went in search of a goal. Despite the score this was a game Carrig should have won.
