League v Douglas Hall A in Ballyadam Park on Sunday 22nd November 2015
Carrigtwohill United 3 Douglas Hall A 1
Scorers – Tristan Horgan, Tommy Jenkinson Butler 2.
Carrig 16s welcomed Douglas Hall on Sunday morning in the league. The teams around Carrig had won on Friday and Saturday so a win was a must to try and keep pace with early pace setters Tramore. Douglas started brightly and took the lead early, breaking from a Carrig corner, and finishing off a nice move to slot into the corner of Kudzai’s goal. This woke our lads up and some nice play down the right finished with the Douglas keeper making two saves in quick succession from Tristan Horgan and Mark Daly. Horgan was to get on the scoresheet soon after though after Shane O’Hanlon hit the cross bar from a free from 40 yards, Tristan was the first to react, finishing cooly, 1-1. Carrig were lucky to stay 1-1 up to the half time Kudzai was forced to take one for the team, fouling the on rushing Douglas striker and stopping a certain goal, thankfully only a yellow card.
Douglas took a grip of the game at the start of the second half after we went 4-4-2 but a couple of substitutions, Carrig bringing on Jack Scully, Aaron Hutchinson and Tommy Butler had the desired effect, Tommy got on the end of a through ball and drilled the ball under the keepers legs. Jason Collins was causing the Douglas defence a lot of hassle and giving Shane Waters, Shane O’Hanlon and Hutch a well earned break from the waves of Douglas attacks. David Ryan slotted back nicely into the holding roll breaking up play and when Carrig put the Douglas keeper under pressure he cleared straight to Tommy Butler again who lobbed the ball into the top corner. Rutendo came off the bench to get us playing again and helped us keep the ball for the last few minutes to secure the three points and second place. Next up a massive game on the 6th of December against Tramore, where we will be looking to close the gap further.
