League v Blarney United A in Ballyadam Park on Sunday 21st Sept 2014
Carrigtwohill United 2 Blarney United A 1
Carrigtwohill Scorers: Philip Dorgan Dylan McCann
Carrigtwohill U16’s go top of the table after a 2-1 win over Blarney at Ballyadam on Sunday morning. Carrig were the better team and should have scored 5 minutes into the game after a great pass from Billy Manning put Brendan Twomey through on goal but the keeper made a good save to keep them out. Carrig were first to every ball and controlled the first half but they were wasteful in front of goal and should have been 3 goals ahead at the break. However they were rewarded for their efforts 5 minutes before half time when the visitors keeper made another great save from Brendan Towmey and Philip Dorgan followed up to score for Carrig.
Carrig were quick off the mark in the second half after another shot from Twomey was saved by Blarney’s keeper into the path of Dylan McCann to score a great goal from the edge of the box. Carrig continued to press forward and created some great chances but Blarney’s keeper kept them out .Carrig’s defence were solid all day and looked like they had kept a clean sheet but Blarney were rewarded a soft penalty deep into injury time. Another good win and a good performance by all.
