Carrig U16’s continued  their run of good form in the League in Ballyadam on Sunday morning and recorded their 7th win in 7 games. Despite the conditions Carrig played some great football to beat Avondale 2 -0. Avondale won the toss and opted to play with the gale in the first half but they failed to use it to their advantage and were pegged back in their own half for most of the opening 45 minutes. Carrig kept the ball on the ground and had control of the game from the start. Brendan Twomey was a constant threat on the wing and had the visitors in trouble every time he got the ball. Avondales keeper was the difference between the two sides in the first half but Carrig were patient and kept him busy. Billy Manning and David Grimes had two good efforts before Philip Dorgan hit the post.

Carrig continued to dominate the game in the second half . Darragh McCann split the visitors defence with a great ball for Philip Dorgan to run onto. Dorgan beat his marker before rounding the keeper to score a great goal on 50 minutes. Carrig scored their second goal 10 minutes later when Brendan Twomey hammered the ball to the corner of the net from the edge of the box. This was Carrigs best performance of the year.

Ballyseedy Home & Gardens Player of the Match : Brendan Twomey.
