Under-15 CSL Div 1
10th September 2022 at Ballyadam Park
Carrigtwohill United – 0
Mayfield United – 0
Carrigtwohill United were held to a goalless draw when Mayfield United came to Ballyadam Saturday lunchtime, but don’t be fooled by the scoreline this was far from a dour affair. Quite the contrary as the game was played at a frantic pace more akin to a cup tie from start to finish.
A much-improved Mayfield side contested every ball and endeavoured to disrupt Carrigtwohill’s passing rhythm and this led to the game ebbing and flowing throughout.
Rian Thornhill fired the first shot in anger after 7 minutes and Roan O’Keeffe had an effort from distance fly over on 21 minutes as the home side managed to create the better openings. Thornhill again had another effort saved before Noah Nsengiyumva headed over from a corner just on the stroke of halftime. All areas of the pitch were busy in an action-packed game that had everything bar a goal.
In the second half Carrigtwohill found a little more space and following some neat build up play Noah Eddins was unlucky to shoot just over. Tom Walsh was the driving force in midfield breaking up play and distributing well and in defence Madden, Seymour, Cullimore and O’Regan O’Connor were solid in front of the commanding Lee in goal. Carrigtwohill continued to threat through a series of headers from Seymour, Rooney and Soumaila but none could find the target and the game would finish honours even.
Best for the home side were Walsh, Seymour and Cullimore but man of the match was left full back Evan O’Regan O’Connor. Well done all.
Player of the Match; Evan O’Regan O’Connor
