Carrig secured a very hard fought 3 points today against a tough Castleview side. The first half was a very tight affair with few chances being created by both sides as defences were winning the battles. Carrig did go closest when James Mulcahy had a 25 yard strike come back off the post. But it stayed scoreless at the break.
The second half started brightly for Carrig as we upped it a gear and were stretching the Castleview defence regularly, James Mulcahy opened the scoring when he headed home a super cross from Zack Casagranda. Carrig were passing the ball better and were winning the 50/50s David Rooney was becoming a lot more dominant in midfield and Carrig should have added a couple of more goals before we finally got our second after James Mulcahy cut a ball back for Zack to finish well. Carrig saw out the game for a decent win and again kept another clean sheet with it.
