Carrig had a very impressive victory away to Castleview today with David Rooney stealing the show with 4 goals. After a very combatitive start where Carrig looked good going forward but a little shaky at the back. Castleview took the lead after a neat move after 15mins, Carrig were rocked but didn’t panic and got an equaliser on 30mins after good work by James Mulcahy led to David Rooney smashing an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box.
Second half was 10 mins old when the game turned in Carrig favour, Castleview had a one on one with Carrig keeper and Darragh Desmond made a great save, and on the break Carrig got a corner where Rooney got his second after a neat flick from the front post. Rooney got his hatrick after a great delivery from a freekick by Niall Hannigan was again headed home after a good run. With 10 mins remaining Castleview scored a soft second from a direct freekick. Castleview may have hoped to push on for the equaliser but almost immediately Carrig scored their fourth when Rooney again scored with his head after a great delivery from Zack Casagranda to wrap up the victory for Carrig.
