Carrigtwohill United – 2

Avondale – 1

Carrigtwohill kept there impressive winning run going on Sunday morning with a hard fought win over Avondale.
We started the game strongly and were rewarded after 8 mins when a lovely cross into the box from Sean Guiney found Cathall Doyle at the back post who had his shot well saved by the keeper but Garry Og Horgan was there to finish the rebound his 7th gaol in the last 4 games.

Avondale then started to pass the ball well and created a few chances of there own and with 10 mins to get to the break they scored the equaliser a deflected shot from 20 yards out. 1-1 at the break.
Different game in the 2nd half when Carrigtwohill started to play some lovely football, Matti, Pol and Liam took over the center of the pitch feeding our wingers Sean Guiney and Cathal Doyle and we were suddenly creating chances and a series of corners let to Cillian McCanns header being cleared off the line.

20 mins to go and they played a long ball over the top and only for a superb tattle by Callum O Byrne we could have fallen behind. We went back in the lead with 15 to go when Dan Guiney took a free from 35 yards and found the back of the net. They then had a player red carded and Carrigtwohill piled on the pressure for the last 10 mins, Sean Barry rattling the cross bar from another free. Full time 2-1.

A super performance by the whole team sees up up the 2nd place and in a very strong position for promotion. Big shouts today for Dan Guiney, Cillian McCann and Sean Barry and Cathal Doyle but our MOTM goes to Garry Og Horgan who scored and never stopped running all day and holding the ball up superbly, a handful for their entire defence.
