This was the 2nd consecutive match away to Midleton A but this time we came up short and exited the cup. They won the toss which was vital as they played with a strong cold wind in the 1st half on a very sticky pitch. Carrig had 2 great chances against the run of play in the 1st half but one shot rebounded off the post and the other, a one on one, was saved by the goalkeeper. Midleton led 3-0 at half time as they dominated in the conditions and took their chances.
Carrig fought back in the 2nd half and 2 goals from the penalty spot from David Rooney gave us hope. Carrig pressed hard but couldn’t find the equaliser and the result was in the balance until the end. Midleton scored a late goal to secure the victory.
