Carrigtwohill United – 4

Mallow United – 3

6th October 2019 at Ballyadam Park

Carrigtwohill United played theie 4th league game of the season on a lovely sunny morning in Ballyadam Park against Mallow United. Fielding a team without a few regular player’s, they started the game poorly and conceded 2 goals in the first 8 minutes.

In fairness to the Carrigtwohill lads they never let their heads drop and worked their way back into the game playing some lovely football. They pulled a goal back when, after some great interchange play, Cian Lee was on hand to score a great goal.

Confidence up now it was all Carrigtwohill and they got a deserved equaliser when Phillip was brought down in the box. Up stepped Cian again to finish the penalty to the bottom corner for a deserved goal just before half time.

The second half started with chances at both ends. Fillip in goals (captain on the day) certainly kept his team in the game with three 1 on 1 saves. Mallow eventually made there pressure tell when they scored a third goal.

This is when the lads really stood up and took the game to Mallow and were rewarded when Phillip broke through from midfield to finish for the equaliser.

Sensing a winner now, Carrigtowhill really drove forward and got a deserved winner in the last minute of the game when Ryan finished off a great move to give the home side their second win in a row. This was a big win with a few regular starters missing and fair play to the lads who played out of position for putting in a big shift.

Player of the game goes to midfielder Cian Lee who led the team from the middle and chipped in with 2 great goals.

Player of the Match: Cian Lee
