League v Churchvilla in Ballyadam Park on Thursday 21st April 2016
Carrigtwohill United 0 Churchvilla 1

This was Carrigtwohill u14’s third match in 6 days and coming just 48 hours after their match against Innishvilla, it was always going to be a tough task against local rivals.

Churchvilla started this match in great form and had Carrigtwohill limited to occasional breaks as they piled on the pressure without really threatening Victor’s goal. It took Carrigtwohill at least 10 minutes to grow into the game but slowly we started to gain a foothold in midfield where Alex Canty was in great form. The first half finished scoreless with both teams having chances the best of those falling to Robert Adam and James Barry who had a couple of shots from distance.

The tempo of the game was to go up a notch in the second half as both teams went for the winner. Churchvilla regained control in midfield and were creating opportunities on both wings. The Carrigtwohill defence stood solid with both corner backs, Joshua Joesph and Ronan Ymedji playing well. Our keeper, Victor made some good saves, with one point blank stop from the top drawer.

During this time, Carrigtwohill were constantly probing and had several chances on the break the best of which was made by Cian Olden after a good run on the wing but blocked just as he seemed destined to score. The breakthrough had to come and for the only time in the match, Churchvilla managed to squeeze a through ball past our centre backs, leaving a neat finish for their striker. With 15 minutes left at this point, Carrigtwohill re-organised pushing extra men forward trying to find the equaliser but alas it was not to come. Several chances were made, with Robert Adam shooting agonisingly wide towards the end.

A great effort by the lads.
