Under-13G CWSSL DIv3 at Ballyadam

Carrigtwohill United – 8

Carrigaline Town – 0

Carrigaline Town were the visitors to Costa del Ballyadam for the Under-13 girls division 3 clash with Carrigtwohill on a beautiful warm and sunny  Saturday morning. The pitch was in pristine condition thanks to the hard working crew of Andrew, Aidan and Declan.

Carrigtwohill introduced a few changes to their match day squad to ensure that ALL girls got game time before the season end.

Emily was a spectator for much of the game but was alert when she needed to be. The full backs of Niamh and Ellen both had super games before they left to go to a camogie match. Sarah and CaitlIn were very composed at centre back.  Maedhbh was superb protecting the defence and Anna tormented the Carrigaline defence throughout the game. Kinga and Sophia were superb on the wings. Up front Amelia and Lilly had the Carrigaline rear guard in all sort of trouble with their constant attacking play.

Carrigaline were well aware of Carrigtwohill’s potent goal threat and packed their defence and their midfield sat back in an effort to thwart Carrigtwohill’s goal threat. Carrigtwohill cognisant of the importance of the game attacked from the off. There was some super football on display from the home side.  The pressure on the Carrigaline defence eventually told and two superb efforts from Sophia on the 10th and 11th minutes set Carrigtwohill on their way. Captain Anna Madden popped up with a clinical finish following amazing work by Sophia on the wing who delivered a perfect cross into the box from the end-line which was met by the inrushing Anna. Team goal of the year. Amelia then had a goal ruled off for offside and on 24 minutes Lilly scored a super goal. Three minutes before half time Amelia got her just reward with a superb goal to take her tally for the year to 20.

Carrigtwohill introduced their substitutes and Katlyn, Alex, Megan Kavanagh, Carragh, Kaci and Brooke all getting on the field of play and putting in superb performances. Kinga made it six nil eight minutes into the second half, just reward for an outstanding performance.  Kaci marked her competitive debut with a well taken goal on the 21st minute and following some amazing work by Alex “Ronaldo” O’Flynn, Megan  Kavanagh added the 8th goal and her first competitive goal for her club. Alex was unlucky not to score but watch this space come Tuesday night. Unfortunately Carragh picked up a nasty ankle injury and we wish her a speedy recovery. Eight goals, seven different scorers. A fantastic team effort.

So we march on to Tuesday night. A victory against Douglas Hall will guarantee Carrigtwohill the league title. Please come out to support these girls. They are an amazing talented  bunch. They have come a long was in a short space of time. Remember if you can’t see it, you can’t be it. Tomorrow night is your chance to see it.
